G(P)⁴-LCIE: AI Landed Cost Calculator & Tariff Classification for Importers —
US, UK, EU, AU

LCIE stands for Landed Cost Intelligence Engine.

Green G(P)4™ helps importers in the US, UK, EU and Australia see what their supply chain really costs. It combines the four-pillar Plan, Procure, Produce, Provide framework, a free true landed-cost calculator, the G(P)⁴-LCIE AI agent for purchase orders, and fixed-price audits for landed-cost leaks, carbon border (CBAM) exposure and fleet decarbonization.

Real case — The entry that charged 82% more

The PO Said $23,690 of Duty. The Entry Charged $43,087.

This is a real shipment, with names removed. On 1 July 2025 a US distributor of replacement water filters placed a purchase order with a factory in Qingdao, China: 23,798 refrigerator filter cartridges in 47 models, $78,339 FOB Qingdao. The goods went by sea to Canada and crossed into the US by rail. Every figure here comes from the purchase order, the supplier's invoices and the filed US entry summaries (CBP Form 7501).

The duty on the day the PO was signed. On 1 July 2025 these filters (HTS 8421.21.0000, base duty free) carried the 20% China additional duty and the 10% reciprocal duty. They were excluded from the 25% Section 301 duty under heading 9903.88.69, and that exclusion was extended twice, so it still applied on the entry date. A small line of graphite parts ($754) carried 55%. Expected duty: $23,690.50.

The duty at entry. The goods were entered on 27 September 2025. The first entry summary left the exclusion off and charged the 25% Section 301 duty on the filters as well: $43,087.00. That is $19,396.50 more than the purchase order said, 82% over the estimate, from one Chapter 99 line.

How it was caught. Someone compared the entry with the expected duty, and a corrected entry summary was filed about ten days later. The duty came back to $23,690.50, exactly the PO-date figure. Without that comparison, the $19,396.50 would have stayed with customs unless a correction or protest was filed in time. On a 30% margin, that is the profit on about $65,000 of sales.

This is the discipline behind G(P)4-LCIE: fix the expected duty for every line on the day the PO is signed, using the duty stack in force that day, then compare every entry against it. The G(P)4-LCIE agent prices each line from the official tariff with its exclusions and Chapter 99 layers, so an entry that charges more stands out at once.

"Nobody checks an entry against a number they never wrote down."

— The lesson of this case (real entry; importer and supplier names removed)

The lesson, put to work: record the expected duty per line when the PO is signed, with the duty stack and exclusions in force that day. Compare every entry summary with it before liquidation. Any difference is either a tariff change or a filing error, and both need an answer.

Border — sets rules & currency

USA — duty on customs value (your FOB). Section 301 list duty (China) and the Section 301 country duty by origin (from 24 Jul 2026: 12.5% China and Vietnam, 10% e.g. India and Mexico) stack on base duty. MPF & HMF per CBP rules. No tax collected at the border. All amounts in US$.

Charges that apply to this order

Which charges apply depends on the product’s tariff code, its origin and your shipment. The origin sets the US Section 301 sliders below; adjust any slider to your goods. The LCIE agent looks them up for each line automatically.

Incoterm — who pays for what

FOB — Free On Board. Supplier delivers export-cleared to the Chinese port. You pay freight, insurance and destination charges. The book’s recommended term.

    Freight mode

    Fees at destination

CURRENCY — USA: everything in US$. UK, EU & AU: supplier-side amounts (unit price, EXW origin charges) are entered in US$ and converted at your FX rate; freight, local fees and sell price in £/€/A$. INCOTERMS — under CNF/CIF/DDP the freight (and insurance) ride inside the supplier price; the US customs value backs them out before duty. MPF & HMF computed automatically for the USA per CBP rules. LCL bills by the W/M rule — greater of CBM or tonnes. FCL counts volume (≈58 CBM/40ft) AND payload (≈26 t/box) — whichever fills first. Air charges the greater of actual kg or volume (1 CBM = 167 kg).

      Why LCIE stands out

How LCIE gets the code right, and shows its work

Most HS code finders match keywords to a code, and most duty calculators apply one rate to a code you already have. LCIE classifies the way a customs broker does, from the legal texts, checks every decision three ways, keeps a written legal basis you can re-check, and then builds the full landed cost.

      01 · OFFICIAL SOURCES ONLY

Every code is chosen from the destination's official tariff list (USITC, HMRC, EU TARIC, Australian Border Force) with its legal notes, and every rate is read live with its source and date.

      02 · THREE AI LAYERS

A national-tariff reading, an independent blind check that never sees the first answer, and a senior review on the WCO Explanatory Notes whenever the two differ.

03 · AN AUDIT TRAIL YOU CAN RE-CHECK

Facts used, heading text, every note checked, headings rejected and why. Each quote is verified word for word against the official text; a line that cannot be traced is not final.

04 · THE LAW, NOT HABIT

Decisions rest on the General Rules of Interpretation, the legal notes and the Explanatory Notes, never on copied rulings or on what other importers happen to declare.

      05 · NEVER A SILENT GUESS

If a decisive fact is missing, LCIE asks. If the law leaves more than one code, a panel compares every code with its official source, duty and the advised code, and you decide.

06 · THE WHOLE LANDED COST

Duty, US Section 301 and 232, anti-dumping, VAT or GST, excise flags, free-trade preferences and border fees, in one audit-ready report.

Built for e-commerce sellers, general importers, manufacturers, logistics providers and customs agents who need a code they can defend and a cost they can plan on.

Important notice. LCIE (Landed Cost Intelligence Engine) is a planning and estimation tool provided by Alpine Trade Concerns. Its method was designed by a licensed customs broker with 20+ years of experience, but LCIE is software: it does not act as your customs broker, and nothing it produces is legal, customs, tax, or compliance advice. HS/HTS classifications, duty rates, tax, and environmental charges (including CBAM and similar levies) are indicative only and may be incomplete or out of date, as tariff rules change frequently. Final classification and duty are determined solely by the relevant customs authority (US CBP, UK HMRC, EU member-state customs, or the Australian Border Force). Do not use LCIE output as the basis for customs entries or filings without review by a licensed customs broker. Alpine Trade Concerns accepts no liability for duties, penalties, delays, or losses arising from reliance on these estimates.

From the book · The Procurement Blindspot

Importers lose 15–25% of margin before the container ships.

The Tuesday that cost $24,302. Summit Trading’s spreadsheet said a shipment of phone cases and cables would cost $69,564. It actually cost $93,866: they hadn’t known which Section 301 list applied, that the 2026 Section 301 country duty adds 12.5% on Chinese goods, that both stack on top of base duty, or that MPF and HMF add another layer. (Illustrative composite case.)

      The Consolidated Green Margin View

Two divisions, one thesis: the fastest margin on the market is the money already lost to wasted fuel and to fees nobody priced in. Hydrogen optimization attacks fuel burn at the combustion layer; the G(P)4™ framework attacks duty and fee stacking at the entry layer. Both convert directly to EBITDA, and both can be simulated on this site before a single dollar is committed.
