Apparel & textiles landed cost Australia 2026 (DDP)

Importing apparel and textiles into Australia on DDP terms stacks FOB duty, 10% GST and entry fees. The exact numbers depend on your 10-digit code and origin; the method below is the one customs actually applies.
The AU fee stack for this category
Reference line: 6109.10.00 (cotton knit T-shirts). Your exact 8–10-digit code decides the final rate — treat the rows below as the stack structure with illustrative rates for the example line.
| Duty (Working Tariff / FTA / TCO, example line) | 10% typical for apparel lines (0% under AANZFTA/ChAFTA with certificate) |
| GST | 10% on value + duty + freight + insurance (consignments > AUD 1,000) |
| Import Processing Charge | A$50 (under A$10,000) / A$152 (A$10,000+, electronic) |
| Biosecurity assessment | A$48 air / A$71 sea |
GST 10% on VoTI (customs value + duty + freight + insurance) — the freight-inclusive GST base is the classic AU quoting blindspot.
What DDP terms change
Under DDP the supplier's price bundles freight, insurance, duty and taxes. Customs valuation law does not allow the duty stack to be reverse-engineered out of a bundled price: the transaction value is the goods price, and the stack must be computed and added. If your DDP quote looks too cheap, someone is under-declaring — the liability follows the importer of record.
