Importing electronics and batteries into the European Union on DDP terms stacks one CCT duty plus national VAT. The exact numbers depend on your 10-digit code and origin; the method below is the one customs actually applies.
The EU fee stack for this category
Reference line: 8507.60.00 (lithium-ion accumulators). Your exact 8–10-digit code decides the final rate — treat the rows below as the stack structure with illustrative rates for the example line.
| Duty (Common Customs Tariff, example line) | 0–4% typical for electronics lines — on CIF value |
| Import VAT (member state) | e.g. DE 19% (7% staple food), FR 20% (5.5% food), NL 21% |
| Low-value B2C (≤ EUR 150) | EUR 3 flat duty per item + EUR 2 handling from 1 Nov 2026 |
Member-state VAT (e.g. 19% DE, 20% FR, 21% NL) is the biggest tax row on electronics. Some low-value B2C lines now carry the EUR 3 flat duty instead.
What DDP terms change
Under DDP the supplier's price bundles freight, insurance, duty and taxes. Customs valuation law does not allow the duty stack to be reverse-engineered out of a bundled price: the transaction value is the goods price, and the stack must be computed and added. If your DDP quote looks too cheap, someone is under-declaring — the liability follows the importer of record.
